Light route spoilers. This guide mirrors the video path from Blasted Steps into the desert and adds clear map-room directions and alternatives.
Overview
The Sands of Karak sits above and west of the Blasted Steps. Most routes require Clawline for ring grapples; Double Jump makes certain climbs easier but isn’t always mandatory.
TL;DR
- Go to Blasted Steps (west bench) → chain Clawline rings up the left side → enter Karak near the top.
- Shakra’s map: From the Karak entry, head east to a tall vertical, climb, then take the first left to her side room (~90 Rosaries).
- Missed the vendor? There’s a fallback method to obtain area maps later via Shakra.
- Video: Full climb and map pickup in the embed above.
Requirements & Prep
- Required: Clawline (grapple) for ring chains and surface latches.
- Recommended: Wall‑movement and Double Jump (Faydown Cloak) for smoother climbs and safety.
- Currency: ~90 Rosaries for the Sands of Karak map.
Fastest Route from Blasted Steps
- Start at the far‑west Blasted Steps bench and begin your ascent.
- Use Clawline to chain ring grapples along the left side; mix in wall‑hops and Double Jump where needed.
- Near the top, enter the doorway leading into the Sands of Karak. Some routes pass a “balloon” landmark during the climb—either approach works.
Map Location (Shakra)
- From the Karak entrance, move east to a tall vertical chamber.
- Climb up, then take the first left into a side room where Shakra hums.
- Buy the Sands of Karak map (≈90 Rosaries). Grab Quill/Compass if you skipped them.
If You Miss Shakra
If you pass her room, you can still obtain missed area maps later when Shakra relocates (summoned via a ringed post). Useful if short on Rosaries or locked out of a route.
Ability Notes
- Is Double Jump mandatory? Sources differ by entrance; Clawline is the hard requirement. Double Jump just opens cleaner lines and rescue options on slips.
- Why Clawline matters: Karak approaches rely on ring grapples and controlled climbs.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t make a ring chain? Reset lower, then build momentum with shorter swings; use wall‑rests to stabilize before the next hook.
- Lost after entering Karak? Keep an eye out for the first tall vertical room to locate Shakra’s side gap.
